Like revealed back on the 10th May, the initial idea from La Liga, which was agreed by its members on the 18th May, is that the final of the Copa del Rey would take place on the 20th May. The RFEF doesn't agree as Luis Rubiales, the new man in charge, would prefer that the Copa del Rey final is played after the league season has reached its conclusion. They'd prefer the cup final to take place on the 25th May, which is the date La Liga want the final set of league fixtures to be completed.
We've reached this point and, bar a last minute change, the fixtures lists will be drawn tomorrow for the 38 game weeks without an agreement in place when it comes to which events will take place and on which dates. They still have a few weeks to reach an agreement otherwise the CSD will need to get involved.
At this meeting other points of interest will also be spoken about. According to SPORT sources, there could be changes to the rules, measures brought in to help govern and improve the integrity of the league and plans put in place in regarding the women's game. They will also reveal the accounts for last year as well as the budget for 2018.
The 24th July is the date that the RFEF have pencilled in to draw the fixtures for next season's La Liga campaign. Even though the draw will go ahead as planned, the RFEF has yet to reach an agreement with La Liga when it comes to dates of the matches. This could cause problems when it comes to the Copa del Rey final seeing as the two sides have been unable to confirm a date for that either.
In the last meeting between the two sides, La Liga offered the 27th April as a date for the final instead. This way it wouldn't clash with the Easter holidays in Spain where many families travel and wouldn't be able to attend an important final.
