Liverpool Find an Exit for Ragnar Klavan

Liverpool are considering removing defender Ragnar Klavan before the European transfer market is closed.

Ragnar Klavan became one of the Liverpool players who had the potential to leave before the European transfer market closed on 31 August.

Klavan was in the final year of his contract with the Reds and wanted to get a chance to play regularly.

The 32-year-old has previously been approached by Newcastle United. However, it failed to materialize as the Magpies succeeded in getting Federico Fernandez from Swansea City.

Klavan has a good reputation in the German League, where he played for four seasons with FC Augsburg.
Klavan is actually not the main choice of coach Juergen Klopp.

Klopp tends to choose Virgil van Dijk and Dejan Lovren in the back sector of Liverpool.
In addition, the Reds also still have Joel Matip, Joe Gomez, and a young academy graduate, Nat Phillips, for the center back post.

Klavan did not join the team due to injury when Klopp's troops won a landslide victory 4-0 over West Ham United in the opening match of the Premier League on Sunday (12/08/2018).

Opportunity to release Klavan is open because the player exchanges in the UK are closed only for permanent recruitment on Thursday (08/09/2018), while outgoing transfers can still be done.
