Following on from the 2016 Year of Adventure, we now enter the Year of Legends the Welsh Government-led marketing campaign designed to galvanise the tourism industry and to showcase the very best of Welsh culture during the year. Its an opportunity to celebrate a wealth of sporting and cultural events and icons, and here at Sport Wales, we plan to do just that!
If you look up the dictionary definition of a legend it reads an extremely famous or notorious person, especially in a particular field (Oxford dictionary online) and in many cases well often refer to people who have the ability to make an impact or create great change within our own communities as legends. In sport its no different.
Wales sporting landscape is full of legendary people. Some of which we hear about in the media every day, but there are those legends who are the foundations of our sporting communities who sometimes stay in the shadows.
The Year of Legends gives us at Sport Wales the opportunity to showcase the pillars of our sporting community ordinary people who do extraordinary things enabling sport and physical activity across the country.
Every month well be announcing our Community Sporting Legend and featuring their story, their work and their impact across our digital channels.

Well be revealing Januarys legend next week, so join us in sharing and celebrating the wonderful work they do for the sporting community in Wales.
