Here at Sport Wales, we know the power of sport and how it can be a real life changer. The festive season is often a time to reflect on the year that has passed and look forward to plans for the year ahead. Here Marie, 35, from Llangefni on Anglesey, tells her fitness story that changed her life for the better over the past 12 months.
Turning up to an exercise class last January was the best thing I could have done to start the year off. I havent looked back since!
I have three beautiful children - Seren who is 15 and twins Cadi and Cai who are five years old. They were my main motivation to sort myself out.
I knew I had put weight on but it wasnt until I looked back at a photograph of myself that I realised how much. It was getting harder to run around after the twins because I just didnt have the energy. It scared me. That is when I knew it was time to do something about it.
I started walking more. I also joined Active Change Personal Trainings classes a few times a week Core and Cardio, Body Burn and Metafit all 30 minute sessions and full body workouts. Karen, the instructor, motivated me a lot, shes amazing and I really couldnt have done it without her. I have a laugh with the other classmates! The classes give me a focus, because its a set times for me and my fitness every single week. It is hard work but I love it.
Not only do I feel better, but I have lost three stone in a year (whoop whoop). It has all been down to cleaning up my eating and doing regular exercise. No fad diets or anything extreme, just being active and more disciplined. Exercise has improved every part of my life. I have loads more energy now and I definitely need it running after the little ones! It is an amazing feeling. My confidence is back. I feel like a new woman.
The plan for 2017 is to keep doing what Im doing. Making a decision to get exercising has changed my life for the better.
